Call for Expert Abstract Reviewers

ASLM 2026 will take place from 08–11 December 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Cape Town, South Africa.

The African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) invites qualified professionals to apply to serve as Expert Abstract Reviewers for the ASLM 2026 Biennial Conference. Reviewers will play a critical role in ensuring a highquality, credible, and impactful scientific programme for this flagship continental event. 

Conference Scientific Tracks

Reviewers will be matched to abstracts aligned with one or more of the following tracks:

Integrated Diagnostics for Health Security & One Health Preparedness

Focus: Integrated laboratory systems and networks as enablers for clinic and public health decision making at all levels of care, preparedness infrastructure for endemic, communicable and noncommunicable diseases, and crossborder health threats.

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Diagnostics and Surveillance for Health Security

FocusStrengthening diagnostic systems for AMR detection, surveillance, and response to support implementation of global and national AMR action plans and advance commitments under the 2024 UN High-Level Declaration on AMR and upcoming 2026 ministerial processes.

Pathogen Genomics and Molecular Epidemiology for Health Security

FocusAdvancing pathogen genomics as a routine diagnostic and surveillance tool for epidemic intelligence, outbreak detection, and integrated health security systems across Africa.

Sustainable Financing, Workforce & Leadership for Integrated Diagnostic Systems

Focus: Sustainable financing as the core systems enabler—linking market shaping, regional diagnostic manufacturing, leadership, and workforce capacity to build resilient, countryowned diagnostic systems for health security.

Artificial Intelligence, Digital Health & Data Systems for Health Security

Focus: Digital transformation of diagnostics through AI-driven tools, use cases, interoperable data systems, and advanced analytics.

Strategic Partnerships, Community Engagement & Trust in Diagnostic Systems

FocusStrengthening people centered, partnership driven diagnostic ecosystems by building trust, social adoption, and sustainable collaboration across communities, clinicians, civil society, industry and media- ensuring diagnostic services are used, trusted and equitably accessed.

Climate-Resilient & Environmentally Sustainable Laboratory Systems

FocusBuilding environmentally responsible, climate-resilient laboratory systems that strengthen long-term health security.
